The SEO Career Summit is SEO’s signature event where students are able to brush up on technical skills needed for their the internship, hear from industry leaders and network with their peers. The 2021 Summit will be held virtually from May 22-June 4. As we gear up for this year’s Summit, we reached out to our 2020 interns to hear about their 5 key learnings from the Summit.

This first post features 2020 Success intern, Deu Awuok. Deu was a 2020 Investment Banking intern at UBS, he received a full-time offer and will return in 2021 as an Investment Banking Analyst. Check out what he has to say:

What are 5 key learnings from the Summit? 

1. I appreciated the technical and interpersonal skills training. I was able to leverage everything I learned at the Summit during my internship.
2. Having a personal coach before and during my internship was beneficial. I was able to ask my SEO coach any questions without concerns about asking “dumb questions”. As we developed a relationship, he was able to tailor his answers to my personal needs.
3. It is not about you; it is about those that came before you and those that will come after you. Do an excellent job and ensure that you leave the door open even wider for those that come after you.
4. I enjoyed being able to connect with a talented and diverse group of people.
5. Getting to listen to the likes of Henry Kravis, Jamie Dimon, Ray Mcguire, and Carla Harris was an amazing opportunity, something that I will always cherish.

Advice to the incoming class?

You have all the resources that you need to succeed this summer at your disposal. Everything that SEO Career teaches you is going to be very applicable throughout your upcoming internship. Do all your assignments and listen to your SEO coach, they know what they are doing. Your SEO network is going to be very important, network and get to know your peers. Capitalize on this great opportunity and ensure that you leave the door wider for those that will come after you.
